Dr Jason McDarra specialises in orthopaedic surgery spanning from the tips of your fingers to the tips of your toes. He has a particular interest in upper-limb and lower-limb surgery, including hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, knee, foot and ankle surgery, as well as trauma and sports injuries.
Dr Jason McDarra has been practicing medicine since 2003 after completing his medical degree (MBBS) at the University of Queensland.
Dr McDarra achieved Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and Fellowship of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthA) in 2012, and then went on to complete a prestigious sub-specialised training Fellowship in lower-limb arthroplasty (joint replacement) under the supervision of luminary Queensland orthopaedic surgeons, Dr Ray Randle and Dr David Liu.
Dr McDarra has over 16+ years of surgical experience with significant expertise in joint replacement (arthroplasty) for the management of chronic arthritis, arthroscopic (keyhole) reconstruction surgery, and the management of sports injuries and acute fractures.
He has developed a special interest in the use of computer navigation systems and robotic-assisted surgery technologies, which allow the surgeon to obtain real-time feedback and improve the positioning of implants in joint replacement surgery, offering the potential to decrease intra-operative errors and optimise the surgical result for the patient.
